This is SO helpful, especially for some of the awkward measurements to halve (e.g., 3/4 cup)!

ReplyDeleteI've seen this on Pinterest and it's got an error. 1/2 of 1/4 cup is 2 Tbsp, not 2 tsp. Big difference!
ReplyDelete1/4 cup halved is 2 tbsp, not 2 tsp. that could mess up a recipe in a real hurry, lol.
ReplyDeleteSaw the error too going around Pinterest.. would ruin just any any recipe.
ReplyDeleteIt has been updated. Thank you.
DeleteWatch for errors on this chart….there are several.
ReplyDeleteThere are 16 Tablespoons in a cup. Therefore, 12 Tablespoons per 3/4 cup.
ReplyDeleteYour chart is wonderful, except for one thing that ends up affecting quite a bit. You have apparently gone on the premise that 2 Tbsp = 1/4 cup. Not so. 4 Tbsp = 1/4 cup. 2 Tbsp = 1 fl. oz. Hope this helps.
ReplyDelete1 TBSP halved is 1.5 TBSP but the chart says 1.5 TSP.
ReplyDeleteSeriously?! Think about it......How can 1.5 Tbsp. be HALF of the initial 1 Tbsp? I believe the chart is correct with the 1.5 tsp. being half of a Tbsp. as there are 3 tsp. in a Tbsp..
DeleteOuch! Several errors here. :(
ReplyDeleteAs an avid baker that knows the difference between tsp & tbsp, the chart is correct. I frequently half recipes but previously had to rely on my own knowledge and math. There was only one error on the version/image I found on Pinterest, but they have fixed it. If you don't agree with their conversions simply test it and determine the accuracy based on your findings.
ReplyDeleteYes there are 12 tablespoons (tbsp) in 3/4 cup...half of that is 6 tbsp.
2 tbsp equals 1/8 cup which is half of 1/4 cup. But since not everyone has a 1/8 cup dry measuring cup or 1/8 line on their liquid measuring cup, 2 tbsp is an easier compromise.
Learn your equivalents folks!!
agreed
DeleteAccurate baking requires using percentages to get a good reduction or increase in a recipe.
