Clean Eat Recipe :: Restaurant-Style Baked Sweet Potato

If you are like us, you get really excited when you see that a restaurant offers sweet potatoes.  What you may not be excited about is how they prepare them...butter, shortening, brown sugar, etc.  I wanted to achieve the same consistency of a restaurant-style baked sweet potato but without all the added, unnecessary ingredients.  Try this very simple sweet potato recipe!

Sweet Potatoes
Sea Salt
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2. Poke holes in sweet potatoes using a fork
3. Spray the outside of each potato with olive oil (using an olive oil mister) & sprinkle with sea salt
3. Bake for 50-60 minutes
4. Enjoy plain or sprinkle with cinnamon

He & She Tip: You can line a baking sheet (with raised edges) or pan with foil but do not wrap the potatoes in foil.

  1. Just made some sweet potatoes this weekend for me and the dog ;-) You can even freeze baked, peeled sweet potatoes and they are perfectly delicious when re-heated.

    1. I had no idea you could freeze baked, peeled sweet potatoes. I had to, painfully, throw away 3 the other day because they had been in the fridge too long. Thanks for that knowledge.

  2. Just out of curiosity, why do you not wrap the sweet potato in foil? Does it make the skin have a difference texture than if you did wrap it?

  3. I make mine in the microwave oven 9-12 minutes and its done. Love it.

  4. Mine are taking longer than the time above. The really small ones were ready but not the larger one.

  5. mash 'em up and add some orange juice. YUM!
